Privacy
Most tools on this site run locally in your browser. Files opened in the PDF editor, calculator inputs, game records and similar data are not uploaded unless a page explicitly says otherwise. This page lists every case where a page does talk to a service, and what that service receives.
Local browser storage
Some features use local storage to remember preferences, saved feeds, game records, annotations and tool settings. You can remove this data through your browser settings.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which may process basic request information needed to deliver and protect the site. There is no analytics script, no advertising and no tracking cookie.
Services a page may contact
Each of these is used only on the page named, only when you use that feature, and receives only what that feature needs. None of them receives your name or email address from this site.
- ElevenLabs — Reader and Feeds "Listen". The passage or headline being read aloud is sent through this site's
/api/ttsproxy to ElevenLabs to make the audio; the audio is cached on Cloudflare by text so repeats aren't re-sent. If the voice budget is used up, the browser's own voice reads instead and nothing leaves the device. - Project Gutenberg, Standard Ebooks and Gutendex — Reader. Your search terms and the book you open are fetched from these catalogues through this site's proxy.
- LibriVox and archive.org — Reader audiobooks. Searches go to LibriVox through this site's proxy; the recordings themselves are hosted on archive.org.
- Open-Meteo — Prepping weather and the standby screen. The forecast request carries a location: the Sydney default, a place you type, or your device position if you allow it.
- radio-browser.info and the stations' own stream hosts — Radio. Station searches go to radio-browser; pressing play connects your browser directly to the station's stream server, which sees your IP address like any radio app would.
- Windy — the embedded wind map on the prepping tools page loads inside a frame from windy.com and follows Windy's own privacy policy.
- YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) and archive.org — TV. Videos play inside frames from those sites.
- Price tracker — quotes come from a market data proxy on this site; only the ticker symbols you choose are sent.
Microphone and location
The browser asks before either is used, and you can decline. Microphone:the Audio metronome tuner, the Site Gauges sound meter and Studio's sampler listen or record in your browser only; nothing is uploaded, and Studio recordings stay in your project on your device. The Voice notes tool uses your browser's built-in speech recognition for live transcription: in Chrome and most browsers that means the audio is processed by the browser vendor's speech service (Google, for Chrome) while you dictate. The transcript, any optional audio capture and photos are saved only on your device.Location: the prepping weather page can use your device position for a local forecast, which is sent to Open-Meteo as coordinates and not stored.
Optional Deep Swarm cloud saves
Deep Swarm can optionally upload its game save to Cloudflare so it can be restored on another device. The account uses a generated recovery code rather than a name, email address or password. The secret portion is stored only on your devices; the server stores a one-way hash. Cloud saving can be disconnected or the cloud account and save can be permanently erased from the game title screen.
Pro subscription
Pro is an optional paid add-on. Payment is processed by Stripe — this site never sees or stores your card details. We store a one-way hash of your licence key, your plan and its status, and the email address Stripe collects at checkout. The key itself is kept only in your customer record at Stripe, so it can be recovered if you lose it. See terms for billing and cancellation.
If you turn on cross-device sync, the data for the tools you sync is stored on Cloudflare against a hash of your licence key so another device can load it. Sync is off by default; with it off, tool data stays in your browser.
Usage counts
The site keeps daily totals of events such as "upgrade prompt shown" and "checkout started". These are counts only and aren't linked to you.
